HYDROGYN... So what's in a name? The highly flammable element, (hydrogEn),
is the lightest of all gases and the most abundant element in the
universe. While the two names are VERY similar, only one
description fits the band HYDROGYN. While HYDROGYN is
VERY hot and flammable, there is nothing “light” about this
foursome. And as far as abundance is concerned, and unlike the
“element,” this band IS one of a kind.
If you get the opportunity to catch HYDROGYN live, do yourself a
favor... GO! But, you say you want to see HEAVY guitars with a ton
of balls and attitude... GO! So, you demand a rhythm section that
pounds you in to oblivion... GO! Oh, so you want a combination of
modern sound with old school... GO!
Oh yeah, the vocals... Sorry Julie, I almost
forgot about you (yeah, right). Let's put Julie's physical
appearance to the side for a moment (but, not
for too long). It is so VERY unlikely that you should ever find a
combination of attributes like Julie has: vocals that never stray from
anything but amazing… seriously, amazing and able to handle
absolutely any vocal style that has ever been thrown her way.
Julie has finally found a home. This IS the kind of music she was
meant to sing. And, like all of the best musicians and vocalists,
HYDROGYN live shows are not to be missed.
HYDROGYN is a rare combination of virtuoso guitar work thanks to
one Jeff Westlake, heart pounding drums and bass thanks to Chris
Sammons & Josh Kitchen respectfully, and searing but smooth vocals
along with mesmerizing and quite honestly stunning beauty from
front lady “Julie.” In case I did not make myself clear about
seeing AND hearing HYDROGYN live… GO!!!
Jeff Watson, May 2008
This CD was written over a period of about a full year and a total
of 35 songs written before the final selection was made as you
have it here. Every song on this work has specific meaning to one
or all of the band members in some way or another. While this is
not a concept piece by any means it is however very thematical in
its nature. Much like Bombshell, this recording has an
underlying theme that has been inspired by nothing more than life
itself.
As with most songs, the lyricist has one idea in mind when writing
the lyrics. From that point the listener will take it and
interpret it to their own meaning to fit into their life as it
relates to them personally. This CD is no different. Even though
Julie had certain things in mind that
inspired each and every song, the listener may on many
occasions mold it into something completely different to fit their
life. This is a great collection of songs and a new place
for HYDROGYN that we like very much. We hope you enjoy listening
to this as much as we did creating it.
